WWII Replica 1911
Does anyone have experience with Auto Ordnance 1911 PKZ model. I've heard some good thing about them and I've heard more bad things about them. How good/bad are the pre Kahr models? How about the post Kahr models? I want an authentic looking WWII replica and from what I've seen they are the most authentic looking and are very reasonably priced. What else is out there that could be easily modified to look authentic WWII GI for under $750? My Garand will be arriving from CMP soon and I want her to have a friend! Experiences and opinions appreciated.

Re: WWII Replica 1911
My only experience with The Auto-Ordnance 1911 dates back to the 1979 - 1980 time period. My XO in the Army bought one and we shot it. From what I remember, it was accurate, solid/dependable and nearly identical to our issued 1911's with a few small changes.
That was the only time I ever handled one or shot one.
Enjoy your Garand when it arrives and happy-hunting for your new 1911!Last edited by JWS3; June 8th, 2013 at 08:50 AM.

Re: WWII Replica 1911
I bought one this winter. Only have a couple hundred rounds thru it so far, but it's met all of my expectations. Except for the finish, it looks a lot like my pop's from WWII. (I also wanted something that looked period)

Re: WWII Replica 1911
It's a great gun for the money. I paid $499 IIRC about 2 years ago, it's a Kahr-era pistol. Very accurate, no FTF/FTE for me yet, shot different brands of ammo with it ( Winchester white box, Remington green box, PMC, some no-name brand my BIL got me, lol pretty much anything.) it's a lot of fun to shoot and yeah it looks just like the WWII models. I did replace the plastic grips it came with, not that there was anything wrong with them, I just like the wood double-diamond grips lol.
It is fairly heavy but that makes it more accurate. It definitely shoots with "authoritah" lolI'm faster than Doc Holliday (with Novocaine of course)

i don't know anything about the auto ordnance WW2 era 1911's but springfield armory makes a nice WW2 1911 replica. i'm not sure of the price but i'm thinking they are right around 500.

Re: WWII Replica 1911
SA used to make an awesome 1911GI. If I can find one used for a reasonable price I'll probably grab it. I don't even care if it's a little banged up...adds character. Thanks for the input Wellcraft!

Re: WWII Replica 1911
Thanks JW! I found a pre Kahr AO 1911 for $350. Looks nice and all I'd have to do is swap the grips. I heard some bad stuff about pre Kahr QC, and I want to shoot it, so I think I'm gonna pass.
