Default Taurus PT140 for $250 good deal?

My friend has a line on a Taurus PT140 for $250. The firearm is in good condition. Is this a fair price? I don't know much about the Taurus line.

I don't want to get into a quality discussion just on weather $250 is a fair price.

    Thanks.

    Thanks.
My first gun was a PT-140. My second one too. That was due to the warranty/replacement process. Those two guns were absolute POS. I wouldn't buy another at $250, unless you can shoot it personally. Even then...

I'll refrain from delving deeper into the quality aspect of my two particular examples I owned. But there's no such thing as a good deal on a POS.

Just my experience and opinion, and no abrasiveness intended. Apologies if my reply sounds harsh...

    Regards,

On the other side of the coin, I've owned a number of Taurus firearms over the years, and they've all been flawless. My first pistol was a PT-145, and it ran perfectly. That said, buying used Taurus guns can be a real crap shoot. If it were me, and I was looking at buying a PT-140, I'd just buy it new. However, if he's comfortable buying used, $250 is an OK price for a clean, low round count specimen. They go new for $330-$380.

I personally wouldn't pay anything for a Taurus PT140. To tell you the truth I wouldn't take one if someone was giving it away for free. After owning one of these I learned my lesson and I was lucky I didn't get hurt.

$250 for a used PT140 in good condition is a good price. I believe the PT series of pistols run around 400 bucks or so new. taurus pistols are OK, not the best and not the worst firearm manufacturer.

$250 is a good price if it is in good working order. They go for $100 more than that, used, in some cases. They were a little hard to shoot 'cause they are sprung kind of stiff, at least from my experience shooting them. If it hasn't been shot much, it will not like weak ammo or a soft grip. They are also known for not liking some HP's, but none of my 24/7 series guns have displayed any problems with the HP's I use (Magtech). SMO.

$329 is new retail. 200-225 would be my tops if it includes extra mags or decent holster.
I had the old pre Pro model in PT145 and it worked flawless.

    ^^^^What he said.

About $50 too much IMO for what it is and for what a new one costs.

I will bet the yes/no lines will be divided on where people live. In my neck of the woods $250 would be a good used price and $225 would be great. $300 would be pushing it.

This is for people who like and trust Taurus. The closer you get to Philly the more people would be asking. I personly would pay about $175 because I don't like the .40. I would pay $250 for the .45.
    Some people just plain suck.
