Can I bring my rifle on vacation (Maryland)?
I know handguns are a no-no, but what abut rifles?
Just because 'perfect' is impossible does not mean we should settle for 'broken'.

If I were in your position that's what I would do.While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: Can I bring my rifle on vacation (Maryland)?
I don't know for sure, I guess it depends on how MD law views hotels/rentals. Some states will recognize it as a home, in which case you would be OK.
Come to think of it(I don't recommend trying this), didn't MD's AG Gansler keep saying during the Woollard case that OCing a rifle in MD is legal??????

MD doesn't treat a hotel as a home and the new laws don't take affect till October. I would leave it.
These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Thomas Paine 1776

I'm in Annapolis as I type this and wish I could have something with me. You can't have it in your vehicle and they don't treat the hotel or beach rental as a home.

Re: Can I bring my rifle on vacation (Maryland)?
A good friend of mine is a LEO in Baltimore. I just had this conversation with him about carrying through MD to go elsewhere on a vacation. His words were exactly as follows:
Me: How should I carry a firearm through MD when I go on vacation?
Him: Break it all the way down and lock it up with the ammo locked up separately and away from the weapon, with the gun being the farthest away from the driver.
Me: What if I want to go hunting in MD?
Him: Don't hunt in MD. Go north. I personally don't ask if someone has a gun unless they comeback as a felon. But each cop has their own way and a lot of them love fucking with people.
Me: Why do you work in such a Nazi state?
Him: Why do you work in shit for living?
Me: Because it pays the bills.
Him: Exactly. If you want to bring a firearm in MD be prepared to to be treated differently than you would in PA. I hate this job but I hate drug dealers more.
If you're just passing through no big deal. If you plan on staying more than 24 hours be very careful on what you bring with you and what you plan on doing while your there.
My advice would be to research the Nazi laws.By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail. Benjamin Franklin

Re: Can I bring my rifle on vacation (Maryland)?
After October 1 it will be illegal to bring into Maryland any of the designated "assault weapons" listed in the statute. The law is so vaguely drafted that in an interview with a young lady who was hoping to get a shooting scholarship for college, she said that if she took her AR-15 to a match in Delaware she could not legally bring it back to Maryland.
