That is what politicians do best. Wasting time and tax dollars.

Is it me or does it take an act of god to get any thing through the judiciary committee?

Anything gun related, although in this case that's a good thing... It's not the committee so much as it is leadership and that goes all the way to the Governors office.

IMHO, it takes the support of leadership -- not only of the committee, but also of the body in question (ie, the Senate Majority Leader and the House Speaker). Failing particularly the latter, nothing happens. Do you really think the chairman of a powerful committee like Judiciary or Appropriations is going to risk that cushy job just to get one bill his leadership isn't terribly interested in coming to the floor out of his committee?

Remember, leadership schedules votes. What they want to get voted on, gets voted on (remember the wiretap bill?). What they don't want to get voted on never sees the light of day (remember every bill we ever wanted?).

That said, I would love to be wrong about this. I'm open to other thoughts.

A response from my state rep alludes to the fact that there is serious doubt legislature will consider debating any firearm-related legislation (pro or anti).

It seems that 9 of the 21 sponsors are from Philly:
    Roebuck
    V. Brown
    McGeehan
    O'Brien
    Kinsey
    Cohen
    K. Boyle
    Thomas
    Youngblood

Incredible! Instead of working out how to get the BG's off the streets they are working on penalizing law abiding citizens. We need to let them know how foolish they really are! These animals don't care about laws. So how will this bill help?
