but they are out of stock at the moment,
Since this is a budget 'assembly', then accuracy is not key, and if the barrel is a 5.56, then you can you the 223 field gauge for max. dimension.

Again. May I ask, how are you going to head space this rifle, or any ar15 for that matter? If it's a new install, budget or high dollar, makes no difference.

All he is doing is checking the headspace, headspace on ar15 barrels are done (mostly) at the factory when they install the barrel extension onto the barrel (threaded on then pined in place)

Checking headspace is not the same as headspacing. Using an old bolt with a new barrel assembly, one should check the headspace to see if the old bolt is still applicable, otherwise the old bolt gets tossed and another (new) bolt is tried.

For improved accuracy using an AR barrel, a bolt is used that is held within tighter tolerances for headspace. Noveske does this.

and how may I ask, do you know if you NEED to head space your rifle, if you never check?
only a fool assumes they dont have a problem, until something breaks

I check all new builds with go and no-go gauges. If I do a new build, new barrel, upper and bcg, I don't even check them anymore. Every other rifle I check, just not ar's.

If I am buying a used one or taking one as a trade, I will use a no-go. If it doesn't pass that I will avoid the deal.

only one AR, so a set of go, no go, gauges is overkill for me,
but a field gauge is cheap insurance
