Re: charter arms help
I had one of the last Undercover revolvers built at the Bridgeport plant between 1973 and 1974. It was serial number 303,234. The best source of information on Charters that I found was Mr. Jim Hauff, known as 32_Magnum on this forum. Unfortunately, he has passed away. Jim was not able to date mine closer than a two-year period because the records around the time of the Bridgeport-to-Stratford move seem to have been lost. Jim had seen Bridgeport-marked Undercovers with higher serials than mine - but he had also found Stratford-built Undercovers with lower serials. Perhaps some Bridgeport-marked barrels went to the Stratford plant as inventory-in-process? Who knows?
Good information on Charter revolvers is almost impossible to find. Your early serial Bridgeport-built Undercover is probably a very nice piece reflecting quality design and manufacturing. Good luck with it!
