Default My Hi-Point and my smart ass neighbor

My neighbor stopped by as I was cleaning my Hi-point JCP 40. He asked why I was cleaning it, after all you're supposed to throw them away when the magazine is empty. Everyone's a comedian.

In all seriousness I have put about 500 rounds through this brick of a handgun and I am pleased with it. It is accurate, goes bang every time and was inexpensive. For grins I have carried it a time or two IWB but it is honestly to heavy to be comfortable. It is ,however, a fun range gun and I am comfortable with it as a nightstand gun.

I've heard a lot of bad things about them, enough to stay clear. I guess they are a hit or miss type thing huh. What's the accuracy like on yours?

Honestly, every review I've read or heard from someone who actually owns a Hi-Point has been pretty positive. The worst comments from owners cover looks (ugly piece of shit) and weight (heavy piece of shit). On the other hand, accuracy and reliability have always been pretty good, minus some mickey-mouse stuff. I'm thinking about picking up a 9mm for a tool box gun...certainly can't beat the price.

I consistently hold 3.5 to 4 inch groups at 25 yards. At 10 yards I can hold it to 1-2 inches. My only real complaint is takedown for cleaning. Driving out the pin to remove the slide is a bit of a pain but other than that it's a pretty decent gun.

Pretty much this it is ugly and heavy but i have seen video's of people just being cruel to these guns but they still go bang. They are american made and they have a life time warranty. I do not own one but to each there own

    So let's see...

    - Cheap
    - Reliable
    - Made in the U.S.
    - People move when it's pointed at them

So it's an old truck. Nothing wrong with that.

Saw my first one at the lGS the other day. I think it would be a good stash gun to put throught the house. It was big and ugly but so what? I have seen only positive reviews by those using them.

Here is a video of me shooting it at a local range a couple months ago. Had a little problem with the target motor at the end of the video
