    Default Berks County Courthouse

Anyone have any personal experience with checking in a firearm? I ask because my brother-in-law just recieved his paperwork back for his LTCF and I was "voluntold" by my sister, his wife, to take him. So I plan on carrying, not sure OC or CC yet, and I was wondering how user friendly it is there.

    Thanks

Not sure how user friendly they are, but they are required to provide a place to check it by state law. But you probably already know that. Good luck.

I'd call the courthouse first and ask about the procedure. There may be a special entrance you need to go to or some other stipulation.

easiest access is from the Court Street entrence, as that leads you right up to the security area. The Lockers were right by the security area to the left. Just let security know you have a firearm to check in, and you shouldn't have a problem. They also have a little receipt to provide to you, keep the receipt and provide it to them when you return.

I've been to the Berks County Courthouse three times, each time OC.

Each time, I approached the metal detectors and told the staff that I have a firearm to check in.

The first time, they asked for my LTCF and I refused. They checked my firearm anyway and when I returned, they said that the sheriff stated it was illegal. I shrugged and left - no problems.

The second and third time, I had absolutely no problems with anyone. Both times, I walked right past at least four LEOs on the way in - not even a mention.
