    Talking M-44 dress up ideas

This spans too many levels to throw in one forum, so bear with me. I just got my C&R, and found a deal on M-44s. I want to gift one to a guy down the street. He's a Marine, I'm Army, and we mock each other for it. He's always got a seat and a beer for me, and got me in at the local gun club. He hates communists and served in Nam. My wife does wood burning. I'd like to get the rifle, strip the stock, and have something burnt onto it to honor his service. Maybe polish up the rest, make it a functional presentation piece. Any ideas, comments on this?

Simply strip the stock and have the Marine Corps logo burned into it. You could also ask if he's retired and have his years of service etched in as well. The finish with a high gloss stock, maybe have the barrel chromed????

Those are the lines I was thinking along. Not sure how much the chroming would run, though.

Classic Arms was selling chromed M44s. I think they still have them, check out their site.

Check your local speed and/or cycle shop to see who does their chrome plating.

I hadn't thought of that. Any ballpark clue what it might cost?
