Default Is a Beretta CX4 worth the coin???

I found a NIB 9mm beretta CX4 (carbine) at a local shop for around $750 on Friday and wanted to get everyone's opinion on whether *you* felt it was worth that amount of money. I understand I have to make the decision, etc... But all the 9mm AR stuff seems to be non existent at this point and a 9mm carbine would be a lot of fun. I guess it could double as a HD piece, but my handgun and shotgun situation has that secured.

Looking for opinions, especially from owners. Not a ton of aftermarket support, and mags may be hard to come by right now.

You know, pics help ease the pain, too......

Right now, 750 is a great price. A few years ago, not so much. Like many guns right now, the prices are settling back down. I personally do not have one..(yet) but if I were to get one, I would get it chambered in 92. Those mags are easy to get and are fairly cheap. I just purchased 3 BNIB Beretta 92 17rd mags for 60 bucks and also a 30rd mag for less than 30. If chambered it PX4, you may be limited to 17rd but not completely sure.

As a former owner of one I'll chime in and say that in my opinion they are not worth their price. If you really want an AR in 9mm this will not squash that desire. They are fun to shoot for a while but you will quickly reach and become bored with the rifles potential. It was all I could do to get 600 for mine a few years ago.....

That's a better price than my local Wal-Mart wants, but I personally don't think it's worth half that.

What, approximately, was the rifles potential at, say, 25, 50, and 100 yards?

    Thanks......

At twenty five yards you can expect one big hole regardless of how many rounds you shoot, at fifty i would say one to three inch groups and at a hundred it would be safe to expect six to eight. To be fair their are guys who LOVE them all over the Berettaforum.net but for me it became the occasional plinker. Ill also add that it NEVER misfed or jammed but I just couldnt fall in love with it so I sold it and never caught myself regretting it. To add something to think about.....the guy who bought it loved them so much he was collecting one in all three calibers.

I owned one for a while and thought it was a great gun to handle but never enjoyed shooting it. The ergonomics are great but the trigger feel was something I could not deal with. I ended up getting one of the early kel tec sub 9s that were machined out of aluminum and I have always enjoyed it. I just bought a newer model and it doesn't feel nearly as nice as the old one.

    There is my 2 cents.

I believe that they made 2 variations on the CX4, the earlier models used the regular 92FS magazines, the later models I believe use the PX4 magazines. That could gauge your choice also.

Hey bripro, was your cx4 a 40 45 or 9mm? Would that make a difference as far as distance/accuracy/constancy is concerened?
