Cant remove 1911 barrel from slide

Pistol is a SA loaded 1911 SS with adjustable sights, NIB.

Was taking it down for cleaning and lubrication before first firing, and cannot get the barrel removed from the slide. All other parts are off, it just seems that the barrel link housing is not able to clear the front part of the slide.

Twist the barrel bushing counter clockwise to remove the bushing. Flip the barrel link down towards the front of the barrel and slide out the front of slide assembly.

bushing, spring, everything is off....link is pushed down...its the link housing that doesn't seem to be able to clear the lower part of the barrel (guide rod housing?)

With the slide upside down (sights parallel with the ground) try gently pulling up on the front of the barrel while pulling forward, thus slightly angling it upwards - this will force the link to its lowest point. If this doesn't make a difference, I'm not sure what to say, except it HAD to clear originally for assembly...

I'll post a pic later today...however it is not the link. Vertical clearance is fine. It is horizontal clearance that is the issue. The link housing itself (part that is permamently attached to the barrel) that is getting hung up.

I'd like to see a pic, too, knowing that it was put in when assembled...it should come out.

I'm going to SWAG it and bet it's the link pin that is slightly off to one side. Look closely at the link pin and\or run your finger across each side of the link pin. If you feel\see any part of the link pin sticking up, just take a brass punch and tap\whack it back down and the barrel will come right out.

Ask me how I know this?
