    Default Cb Radio

Anyone remember when the CB radio was very popular. I remember my parents having a base station and Mobile units in the cars.

Anybody have one that they still use.

I had one in my personal car for awhile to help find out traffic conditions ahead, as a truck driver I use them all the time. Nothing fancy, a Corba 29 LTD, peaked and clipped.

A couple years ago my buddy and I used to communicate with base stations.

Mine is in the attic, but he still rocks the CB radio. He now has his ham license and is pushing more power and building bigger antenna towers.

I would be cool with us using cb slang.

    10-4 Come back driver...

I had one in my car, just a cheap Uniden unit but somewhere along the lines it fried (and I pissed off some truckers on I-80 since apparently I was throwing a ton of feedback out every time I sent)

That and they (the others out there) don't like it when you play "Its 5 o clock somewhere" on a Friday afternoon around 5 o clock, even if it was only one line....ah I'm sure I should be a grease spot by now...

Observation: CB radios were worth their weight in gold in New Orleans, Sept 2005. They had substantially more range than FRS walkie-talkies, and the telephone network was down for some time (taking cell service with it).

Mobile use was an added plus.

As a Jeeper, I don't go in the woods without one... it's our primary form of communication on trail rides.

    Cobra CB with Firestixx antenna.
