Replaced Slide Release On My Glock 27 Gen 4
So, I saw a video on replacing the slide release on a Glock 27. I am a naturally left-handed shooter, and the slide release was extremely uncomfortable as is.
I saw a video on the Ghost Bullet Slide Release (bought from here), so I figured - well, why not? If it doesn't work or whatever, I'll put my old one back in.
Pretty easy install, and now I can actually use my index finger to release the slide effortlessly.
Anyone else do this modification? Anyone end up having problems with it? I haven't fired it at the range yet.Go on and wait for the paternalistic society where authorities take care of everything.

Re: Replaced Slide Release On My Glock 27 Gen 4
Never used the ghost one but I have used the factory Glock on a G19 and G26 and they work great, never had an issue but I do shoot right handed. I also don't send the slide home using the slide stop I've always cycled the slide...

Re: Replaced Slide Release On My Glock 27 Gen 4
I am a left handed shooter as well. I never use the slide stop. Putting the pistol in to battery is done with my right hand over the top of the slide.
In my opinion a slide stop should only be used to lock back an empty pistol with no mag.FOAC Member, NRA Member

It's a slide stop not a slide release.

Re: Replaced Slide Release On My Glock 27 Gen 4
I don't have the Ghosts, But I do have similar types on my Glocks and they are above and beyond an improvement over the Crap that Glocks ships on their guns. IMO the Glock designed Slide stop is the weakest link to an otherwise excellant design. Whether you sling shot the slide or use the stop as a release dosen't matter, It's whatever works best for you.
Enjoy it, You just improved your Glock and your shooting style.

Put a few hundred rounds down range with it and check back. Some people ride them while shooting and cause a malfunction.

I agree.
Sorry. Now I know.
Thanks!
I also find the (I know I will be corrected) little clips that release the barrel are also difficult to work with - at least for me. I guess my girl hands and sensitive fingertips need to get used to it.
How does that happen? How do you "ride it" while shooting?Go on and wait for the paternalistic society where authorities take care of everything.

As a right hander with the thumbs forward grip you can bump the "thingamajig that stops and can be used to release the slide".
As a lefty, it's rare that this would happen to you. Right handed shooters can have the weak hand thumb bump the release if they press up against the frame (when the thumbs should really kind of float out in space).

Re: Replaced Slide Release On My Glock 27 Gen 4
There's no harm in using the slide stop as a slide release. Been doing it since the first time I've shot my Glock with no I'll effects. It's also quicker than manually cycling the slide.
*note: I'm not insinuating that manually cycling the slide is time-intensive. However, using the slide stop/release is undoubtedly faster.
