    Default Philadelphia LTCF Question

    Hi All,

I have a question that I hope someone can help me answer. I am a "new" resident to Philadelphia and I want to get my LTCF. My problem is, I only know one guy that can vouche for me. Everyone else is either a co-worker or anti-gun (or both). I thought I could use my girlfirend, but I was told (by a gun shop guy) that I can't use her because we share an address.

Can I use my girlfriend and list here as a "room mate" or am I just screwed?

Some quick background (if that helps). I lived in Montgomery County 5-6years ago and had one issued there. I then moved back to Seattle (had one there as well/ still valid), then moved to Chicago, then back here.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Use your contacts from Montgomery County. Philly might balk, but the law does *not* say your references must be from Philly.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

The only thing the LTCF form says about references is that they must not be family members. A girlfriend is not a family member.

You should be okay to put her as your second reference, as the PA LTCF application says nothing about the reference having to be of a different address; it only says non-family. They are required by law to use this form for application. If they tell you that you cannot use her, they are technically breaking the law by adding in their own criteria. However, it is done all the time, and it is up to you if you want to try to fight that.

It doesnt matter if you share an address. Both of my personal references on my application live at the same address as me and my application was accepted and I got my LTCF.

Thanks DHR. That's a relief. Unfortunately I just read another guys post about waiting 45 days and getting know where, so that should be fun

Now that you have the answer, if you don't know already, go there 15 minutes early (they open at 8.30am). You will be in and out A LOT more quickly. You should be able to find free parking on Percy St. (north of Spring Garden).

I braced myself for the worst when I applied. I just did a walk-in about 50 some days after applying and they just gave it to me... I received something in the mail a week or so later

That was probably my thread you saw about the Philly LTCF. Also they open at 830 now instead of 8, I'd get there at 745-8a
