Contiguous state handgun purchase ??
What is the current law (Federal, state, etc) on a Pennsylvania citizen purchasing a handgun in West Virginia ?
It is my understanding that long gun purchases are permitted but I'm in the dark about pistols.
The reason I ask is that Cabela Club Visa cardholders can get $100 off on purchases of $500 or more.
Being from Westmoreland county,Cabela's Wheeling store is closer than Grice's in Clearfield.
I doubt if it makes any difference, but I've had a concealed carry permit for 40 years.
Thanks,guys !

Re: Contiguous state handgun purchase ??
Whenever you purchase a handgun in ANY state other than your state of residence you MUST pay for the gun there and then have them ship it too an FFL holder in your resident state for transfer and pickup.

Re: Contiguous state handgun purchase ??
Thank you !!
You are correct per the BATF FAQ at http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/faq2.htm#b13
"A person may only acquire a firearm within the person’s own State, except that he or she may purchase or otherwise acquire a rifle or shotgun, in person, at a licensee's premises in any State, provided the sale complies with State laws applicable in the State of sale and the State where the purchaser resides. A person may borrow or rent a firearm in any State for temporary use for lawful sporting purposes.
A person not licensed under the GCA and not prohibited from acquiring firearms may purchase a firearm from an out-of-State source and obtain the firearm if an arrangement is made with a licensed dealer in the purchaser's State of residence for the purchaser to obtain the firearm from the dealer."
I guess we "bitter small town residents" better be prepared if either Democrat wins the general election.
I haven't been too happy with some of Bush's decisions but we firearms owners have had a good bit of peace and quiet for 8 years.
Thanks again!The older I get,the better I used to be !!
