Thread: Why open carry?

Why open carry?
If one has a permit to carry a handgun concealed, why would you want to carry open?
I would think if SHTF you become prime target #1.
Do you want to un-nerve the gentry? Do you want an opportunity to educate. Is it like climbing a mountain, because you can?
I am in no way criticizing the right to do so, only wondering why folks choose to attract that sort of attention to themselves.

Re: Why open carry?
I have to agree with you on this, I would rather be able to act towards a threat without the threat knowing what I've got up my sleeve. On the other hand open carrying would probably deter trouble all together, unless they are like some people I have seen who are hopped up on something and they don't notice/care what is going on. I feel there are pros and cons to both sides, but I'll keep mine under cover. Just my humble opinion..

Re: Why open carry?
I open carry when I am scouting or hunting. When I go out to the store or somewhere else i keep it covered. The way I look at it there is a time and a place for everything. I would also like the upper hand if something happens.
The truth shall set you free.

Re: Why open carry?
Why open carry? Because it's a pain in the ass trying to hide a Hi-Point "compact" C-9. My shirts aren't extra large, and I prefer to have my shirt tucked in (it's the civilized thing to do).
Had to run to the store tonight. A quick stop at Nic's Tobacco Shop in Spangler, followed up by a stop at the Dollar General store in Barnesboro.
Open carried all the way down and back. No stares, pointed fingers, or worried mothers grabbing their little ones to protect them.
I didn't care, they didn't care.

I understand you're curious and I am not being sarcastic, but this has been done at least twice in the last two weeks. Why not look through those threads, I'm pretty sure every possible reason was posted.

Re: Why open carry?
Hope nobody minds, I have one more post for this topic...
I am VERY HAPPY some people open carry. I plan to start doing so in the next few days.
If we do not exercise and display a RIGHT people start forgetting it is a RIGHT. Then we lose that RIGHT.
Do you really want gun laws to get even tougher than they are now?
I am not an antagonist but will soon start open carrying. If nothing else it will give me the opportunity to hand out a lot of flyers and explain our RIGHTS.
Ok, I'll shut up & go to bed now...
P.S. I'll still have my NAA revolver in my pocket. I always do.
