Re: Question about "references" for concealed carry permit
The Indiana County Sheriff doesn't even want references for a renewal.

Re: Question about "references" for concealed carry permit
Since the statute doesn't have any provision for the sheriff to deny you based on not knowing any persons who operate telephones, then it really is none of their business if they live in the county, the state, the country, or even are living persons. Under the privacy portions of the statute, they aren't allowed to contact them, so you can put F You and Lickma Balls for your two references, and they are not allowed to check if they are real or not. Do not lie on the form.
If the sheriff may require references to be from the county, but he/she doesn't write the law.

Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Question about "references" for concealed carry permit
You know, I'm due to renew my LTCF from Philly. I already have my 2 (illegally) requested reference sheets, but this got my thinking. I have friends in Italy and Germany. It would be hilarious if I got them to fill in the reference sheets (in Italian and German of course) and use those instead!
I'm sure I'd have to appeal their denial after that, but the look on the detective's face would be priceless. I could probably even make a case about them having no trouble reading them if they were in Spanish so why you fussing at me?!
Thats just Bimmer's normal response tone. You'll get used to it.

Re: Question about "references" for concealed carry permit
That would be funny but.... PS: you have no legal requirement to fill out any reference cards, sheets, etc
Haha. If I came across as rude I apologize. People asking for clarification or answers are certainly welcome. People that are aware of illegal requirements in the LTCF application process yet abide by them annoy me. They make it harder for everyone else behind them.
Plus... I'm known to be a little sarcastic...
I'm a nice guy... Promise

Re: Question about "references" for concealed carry permit
You get denied for failure to list them.
If you need a reference - do like others have done here in the past and offer to buy dinner for some members to come meet you. Sit, talk, BS, etc.. Then you will have folks to list.
We've had existing members jump at the offer of a meal, beer, and a good bullshit session.
Cookouts are a great way to get folks to help ya out. Hotdogs and preformed burgers can be had cheap.Last edited by knight0334; May 9th, 2013 at 01:30 PM.
