Default Non-Res. PA premit and New Jersey

Since NJ is a no issue state....is it true some Sheriffs in PA will issue non-res. Lic. to NJ residents...?

If so, tell us where please....

NJ is not a no issue state. It is a may issue state. They may issue only to political elite, but they have a process, corrupt as it may be. Pa will not issue to a NJ resident unless you have a NJ carry permit.

GC......your right, it's corrupt but to NJ residents it's a No Issue State.....read somewhere on another forum ...somebody said that there were still some PA Sheriff's that would still issue to NJ residents based on that assumption.....was just wondering.

The assertion that some Pa sheriffs issue to unlicensed NJites was made by "IGPJAP" at http://forum.pafoa.org/concealed-car...orida-ccw.html

He had promised to identify those sheriffs - I reminded him of his unfulfilled promise three weeks ago:

To date there is no such posting - you decide the veracity of his initial claim.

BTW there were 32,000 NJ CCWs active in 2011

Yeah, I doubt any PA sheriff is going to feel sorry for the poor, unlicensed NJ res and issue them a PA LTCF... against PA state statutes.

Even thought NJ is no issue to 99%, they remain may issue. Anyone can get the forms fill them out, pay the processing fee, and of course, be rejected.

The only remaining no issue state I'm aware of is Illinois, and of course DC.

To confirm what others have said here:

Even though NJ essentially doesn't issue to anyone, the state does have a "May Issue" permit process codified in law. Because of this, PA law REQUIRES sheriffs to ensure that all non-resident LTCF applicants can obtain a permit in their home state, and to fulfill this requirement the sheriffs will need to see the permit.

Illinois for the next couple months, and Vermont. Illinois' law was struck down in federal courts, and was given 180 days or so to come up with a law providing for the carrying outside of the home. If the state fails to come up with a law they become a constitutional carry state since the carry laws were found to be unconstitutional. ...and we know IL wont allow that to happen, so they will have a law on the books real soon.

Washington DC does issue permits for the residence, which allow transporting to a range, hunting, and gunsmith.

A permit is not needed in Vermont, however...correct??

The DC permit won't get you a non res ltcf from Pa. Some sheriffs may issue to restricted permits, not sure. I know mine won't.
