The future of shooting...
as I see is going to be very grim for most people. In 2006 there were at least 3 ammo price increases and January 1st showed another increase. I have been told buy several people that I trust that reloading componets and ammo would go up by 20% starting the first of the year. As predicted, it has come true. I placed an order for bullets that included free shipping, which is an amazing deal. I paid $220 on 12/31 and I checked the ammo prices today and it was $260. I know that this will affect how people will approach their range sessions. I was talking to some fellow members on the site and I wanted to set up a group buy on ammo. We wanted to wait tilafter the holidays, so people can catch up on their bills. I wished that I would have organized the group buy sooner. I hope that everyone has enough ammo in their inventory to support their shooting hobby. I only see this issue becoming worse.
What are your opinions?
ETA: It's not just ammo prices going up. I ordered some plastic ammo holders for .223 and I paid $7.39, now that same item cost $16.59. It is going to be an interesting year.

I'm all for a group buy if the price is right.

Re: The future of shooting...
I'd probably buy some .45 as well.
I saw a high point for $165 at FCO and I think i'll pick up that gun despite everyone I know calling it a peice of crap. I don't have a .45 and for that price I might as well put one in my collection. Then I need to think about a .38.

Re: The future of shooting...
Thanks but aluminum caseings? Also the shipping probably puts it over the top of course if I don't have to pay sales tax that might be worth it. Thanks for the link, I might bay a few boxes to see if its worth it. Anyone here shoot this blazer? Hum I read somewhere the French creak doesn't allow aluminum right?

Re: The future of shooting...
Aluminum is generally ok. A few guns might extract less than ideally once in a while, but the ammo is clean and well made, so IMO worth it. I've shot a ton of it over the years.
A case of it is actually perceptibly lighter than brass-jacketed ammo, so shipping might be less. I doubt you'll find a better deal in the near-term future.
Some ranges do ban it since they can't easily separate it out from the recycleable brass/nickel casings. I'd say about half the ranges I know about will say no. Best to call ahead to your range before investing.
