Re: Gun Review: Taurus PT1911 .45 acp
You did a great job on this review; I appreciate reading these types of posts because they describe a person’s personal experience with a firearm. Thanks…I wish you many of years of enjoyment with your new 1911.

Re: Gun Review: Taurus PT1911 .45 acp
Actually got to the range today. Great groups. No FTFs. Only got to shoot a couple mags. I bought an after market mag that worked but the slide didnt stay open with it. It was so windy that the paper and backers kept blowing over and away.

Re: Gun Review: Taurus PT1911 .45 acp
Hi Guys, I'm new to your Forum group as I have been researching a PT-1911 and a link led me hear.I see that most of the posts stopped early in 2009 but i got a couple questions. They are selling this with an option for 12 rd cap.Is the grip the same size with just an extended mag?Second question, Do any of you have this in .38 super? Thanks

Re: Gun Review: Taurus PT1911 .45 acp
any time you get a hi-cap 1911, the grip is going to be wider than normal, becasue the mags will be double stack, not single stack, like a traditional 1911. the length generally stays the same. as far as i know, a 1911 in .38 Super will be the same size as a typical 1911. welcome to the forum!

Re: Gun Review: Taurus PT1911 .45 acp
I have owned Taurus wheel guns and their Beretta clone autos going way back into the 1980's and I loved them and never had any problems with them. I am a bit of a 1911 type guy when it comes to .45 and have owned Colts, both 70 and 80 series, great guns...Springfields and Kimbers, can't say anything bad about them...Paras, can't say anything good about them and Smith and Wesson's...also nothing bad to say here either.
While I was overseas my nephew broke into my stored items and stole my beautiful S&W 1911 Commander. Before I came home on furlough I did some serious research and discovered the Taurus 1911. I bought a blued one a week before I had to return overseas and never shot it. Just got home for good in Sept 2010 and still have not had a chance to shoot it and was even thinking of trading it on a Springfield, but I appreciate all the postings here which gives me warm and fuzzy feelings about how good a gun it is, so I have decided to keep it.
I can't see paying $1000 + for a 1911 just because of the name on it. They are pretty much all the same anyhow, so when you get what you get with the Taurus price, THAT is a deal.
Now, just to get my butt in gear, take a day off from looking for a job and get to the range.

Holy shit, I hope you beat the snot out of your nephew, and got your guns back. That's sick.
I've owned Springfield and a Taurus, now I own a Smith and Wesson and a Kimber. I love them all. All were great 1911s.

Re: Gun Review: Taurus PT1911 .45 acp
Been looking to get a 1911, and thanks to this review and some more research (and the price), I'm heavily leaning towards a PT 1911. Either that or a Springfield Range Officer. I'll need to go look at both.
BTW, I live in Blair county. Any recommendations on shops to visit? Been to east coast and it seems their selection of 1911s is kind of lacking.
