I have heard in the past that he could not do anything about the strict gun laws in New Jersey because of the legislature there.

Guess this throws that idea in the trash.

Talk about a slippery slope. Next it will be all 45 and 30 caliber. Oh and definitely the 44 mag. This is pathetic. They are attacking on all fronts little by little-and Jersey is already one of the worst.

Compared to what the Democrats have passed in Assembly his ideas are actually minimal.

New Jersey has the second toughest gun laws in the country. The first facet of Christie’s plan seeks to make them even stricter. This includes banning future purchases of the Barrett .50 Caliber; strengthening the state’s existing background check requirement by mandating that mental health records are included in the instant background check process at the time of a firearm purchase; and requiring firearms purchasers to present a valid government photo ID, along with the already mandatory Firearms Purchaser Identification Card.

Has a Barrett rifle EVER been used in a crime?

I wonder what will happen when he discovers the 70-caliber rifles...

According to a blurb on Wikipedia: "As of 2012, there have been no terrorist attacks involving a .50 BMG. In fact, not only has the .50 BMG never been used to harm or kill anyone in California, there is no record of a .50 BMG rifle ever being used in the United States to commit a crime."

While that may be true, if you were to put an adjustable stock on one it could be easily concealed. Imagine what you could do with one of those under your coat.
