Default thinking of new 22 pistol

Hey I'm thinking of getting another pistol in 22. Leaning towards the 1911 line but haven't heard much about them

    Any suggestions
    Thanks

What is it for, and what do you already have? Plinking, serious target work, woods carry, etc?

I have four Ruger MK II's that have different levels of modification from totally stock to ones with a bunch of Volquartsen parts so I can shoot a bit more accurately. They are accurate out of the box, but I used to compete a bit with one. They are built like tanks, and don't believe the horror stories about disassembly/reassembly. If you follow the manual and/or a youtube vid it is easy.

Browning Buckmarks are nice also, but I don't have one. If you have a centerfire 1911 also consider a Marvel .22 conversion unit, and if you have a CZ-75 series gun, their Kadet Kit .22 conversion is fantastic, and I do have one of those.

The only rimfire pistol I have is a S&W M&P22 and it's a nice shooter.

I recently picked up a Ruger 22/45 and out of the box it is very satisfying as a target gun. I have some mods planned to modify it to personal tastes, but I have no problems recommending one to someone else.

I second the 22/45. Feels great in your hand.

+3 on the 22/45, or a Kimber .22 cal 1911. I'd be happy with either one, but you'll need a few more coins for the Kimber. Colt makes a nice .22 cal 1911, but I would rather have the Kimber, myself. I do not like the Chiappas. JMHO

+1 for the M&P 22 pistol. I had a 1911 style .22, but sold it to purchase an M&P 22. It has been 100% reliable with CCI Blazer and SV after around 600 rounds through it. It is not a bullseye gun, however. It is what it is, just as the 1911 style .22s are, a fun plinker with the look and feel of its bigger brother. I got mine to go with my S&W M&P 15-22. I hope to do some two gun competitions with this pair.

If I were to get an introductory target 22, it would be a Buckmark or Ruger. I prefer the Buckmark simply because it feels better in my hand. I find the Ruger grips to be rough on my hands.

I own a Ruger SR22, a S+W MP 22, A Browning Buckmark, and a few other brand semi auto 22s .Bersa, Beretta. Most accurate for me is the Browning by far. All the others function very well, but are more for casual plinking. Browning for tight target shooting.

Any of these mentioned are all fun to shoot. None are overly expensive to buy, but some, like the MP 22 only come with one magazine. Bersa and MP 22 mags are tough to get right now.

Between me and 3 or my friends we have put about 40k plus rounds throughout our GSG's and we love them.
