    Default gun grab PLEASE HELP

People, please I need some help and advise. I'll start with this: my father is a great man. H adopted me, I'm an American who enjoys my rights and freedoms. My father is one who can love people unlike other people I've seen. He's devoted his life to ministry, and we've taken in people on occasion. At the end of may, we're taking in a parolee. He's supposed to be non violent, never been written up, just "stupid". But all the guns have to go. I have a concealed permit. He's skitzofrantic, but supposedly doesn't have problems with it. My dads the only friend he has. People, my guns have to go and I can't carry where I live anymore. Is there any way I can petition against my right to bear arms being taken without jeopardizing this parolees opportunity to have a home? Where can I go to get help? Can I keep my carry gun in my car or on my person? Please, any advice!!!???

Yes, keep them on you or locked in a safe at all times

If this is anything like a prohibited family member as I understand it if the firearms are locked up and only you have the key/combination then you are good.

I'm sure others will come and post some law, if your really worried spend the cash for the privilege of legal advice from an actual lawyer.

Also for the purpose of keeping them locked up away from access, you do not need a full fireproof safe. The less expensive gun cabinets should fit your needs. Stack-On is the most well known brand and they start at $100.

I just got the 18 gun convertible Stack-On cabinet as I rent and a fireproof safe is not feasible right now. I like this one as it has both a place for 9 rifles AND shelves for handguns and ammo/components/accessories/etc.

Also not legal advice, but the OP stated he was a Parolee, a lot of the time a condition of Parole requires there to be no firearms in the home.

The prohibition is against him, not you. The terms of HIS parole is that he cannot possess a firearm.

There is nothing that can be petitioned. It is a private civil matter really. Your household is willingly giving up something to house the individual because of the conditions laid upon him. Your rights are not being take away by the government. You are willingly giving them up to house a person who is prohibited from possessing a weapon.

Technically having the guns under complete lock and key will not get you into trouble at all even if he is completely prohibited. The parolee could probably get into trouble even under those circumstances if his parole officer is a dick. A simple glass door gun cabinet with a lock would not suffice. Glass is easily broken.

The residence is usually pre-approved by the DOC before the parolee moves in. Conditions are set forth by the DOC, which would include weapons being present in the residence. Discuss this with the parolee's P.O.

This has been told to me by a number of pre-released staties that my employer has hired.

Not sure of your current living arrangement, but posts of having your own place are probably the best resolution.

If possible can you separate the current home into a mother/daughter type with separate entrances?? Separated by wall or steel locking door?? With one party acting as landlord? This person and your personal property need to reside in different/separate accommodations. DOC would have no say in the "neighbors" home or personal property.

    This. The title is misleading.
