Other good revolvers?
Hey guys,
Maybe someone can help me out. I have been looking for a new stainless 4 inch .357 revolver. Had my heart set on a ruger gp100.....allocated. Next I was looking at a smith and wesson 686. Can't get a hold of that one either anywhere. Any other suggestions on models I am not thinking of in the above flavor that you guys have seen around and are reliable/accurate?

Go old school and maybe a Dan Wesson. I don't know about local but GB always has some nice used ones. I buy everyone I can squeeze out extra for.
www.Steelvalleycasting.com is your new home for coated bullets and custom ammo.

Tanners in Jamison has both them new. Also call surplus city. I like your choices man if I was looking for a 4 inch it would be one of them or an older security six would be ok

Re: Other good revolvers?
If the Gun is to be carried get a model 66 or if you like blued better get a model 19.
I just bought a mint model 19 for $550.
My first revolver were a model 66 still my favorite and its still mint.
When i do carry a revolver for protection i carry my Rossi model 462.

Re: Other good revolvers?
The S&W 686 is a great gun. I have a 7 shot model. This would be my SHTF gun. Keep looking. One is bound to show up sometime. If you don't mind getting a .38 wheel gun in Stainless, look at the S&W model 67. This is another fine revolver.

Re: Other good revolvers?
Does it need to be adjustable sights or could it be fixed sights? I know you said you were looking for a GP100 4" which would be adjustable, but what are your thoughts on a fixed sight? Reason I ask is that I am getting ready to put a 4" heavy barrel .357 Mag SS Ruger Police Service Six up for sale. I completely refurbished it and it looks and shoots great.

Re: Other good revolvers?
Unless you are set on new, I would check gunbroker, the classified here and on pennswoods.net to start. My recommendations would be a 686, 66 or 19, or GP100 or Security/Speed Six. I just picked up a 66, and I cant say enough good things about it. The K frame S & Ws seem to be a perfect fit for me, they fit my hand just right, and it is a joy to shoot.
