    Default Gun safe humidity?

Bought a digital humidity gauge from wal-mart a few months back to check the humidity levels in my gun safe. I have a eva-dry rechargeable dehumidifier and a golden rod, my humidity has been between 45%-51% on average. I`m in SEPA, just wondering what others humidity levels are in their safes and what methods your using to keep it low, Thanks

Great idea to check humidity. I hadn't thought of that. I have 2 golden rods in mine, one on each partition of the safe. I have a digital temp gauge in there and know the interior safe temp is at least 4 degrees warmer than the outside air temp. And this particular safe is waterproof as well, so I'm guessing it's sealed a little better, at least I hope so.

I may have to get something to check humidity as well. That's an excellent idea.

Anybody have any idea what humidity level would be good to keep it under? Or just simply, the lower the better?

To low is not good either, it can dry wood out. 40% TO 45% is ideal. Over 50% you have the chance of rust
