Would you choose a shield 9mm over a G19?

Sure, but who would want to? Clearly some people do, but there is no way I'm carrying a Glock-sized handgun IWB.
I can't stand having change in my pocket and I won't carry a wallet - I'm not going to smash something the size of a 2x4 into my waistband.

The G26 is about 1/4" wider than the Shield and carries more rounds.

I suppose I could ask why someone would want to give up additional rounds to save 1/4" of space?

I know people call the Glock a brick, but imo that flat slide without pokey things and uncomfortable bumps makes it easy to carry, especially in a good adjustable holster like a Crossbreed or similar.

I just got rid of my G26 in favor of a Sig290, I gave up capacity for just a minor size "savings" but I never had a problem carrying that G26 all day.


I do suppose how one is built does make a difference.
But I still can't see how the Shield is going to be comfortable when a Glock isn't when it is hardly slimmer.

The difference in width is small on paper, but HUGE in reality.
IF that's something that matters to someone.

I think it matters - any reduction in size is a plus where I'm concerned. That is my focus for a carry gun - not capacity.

That's why so many styles and sizes exist - everyone has their own idea of what is ideal for them.

I have a Shield for EDC because my S&W M&P 45 is too large to conceal a lot of the time. When I'm hunting or going somewhere where I don't need to conceal a gun, I will use the 45. While I'm anywhere else Ill go with the Shield.

For CC in the pocket or IWB the Shield 9mm. OWB the Glock 19 or the Shield 9mm.

Shield vs G19 is apples vs oranges. The more direct comparison is Shield vs G26 .

Lots of people love the G26/27 ...and I'm not one of them . * To me * they are too be to fit in pocket, yet too small to properly or comfortably grip ( for my xxxl hands). The Shield is comfortable and shoots well for me .

Glock 23 in 357 SIG (EDC), 9mm target, .40 (barrel) in the Glock parts tin. P3AT always on me. Don't need a Shield...it's neither small enough nor big enough.
