    Default The 1911 Bug

The 1911 bug has it's teeth so deep in me, I don't think I'm ever gonna shake it. I now have a total of 3 and I don't see it stopping any time soon. My first 1911 was a Kimber Custom II. I added Meprolight Night Sights, VZ grips, and a few KimPro Tac 8rd mags. After shooting it the first time, I fell in love. No pistol I have ever shot was so smooth. Accuracy was outstanding as well, but I still couldn't get over how good it felt while shooting it (not to mention the pure beauty of a 1911). My next 1911 was a Kimber Stainless Pro Raptor II. I added a set of VZ grips and some KimPro Tac mags. Same as before, the gun is just amazing! My latest purchase was last week when I walked in to my LGS and saw a Springfield TRP in SS. I had to have it! I've been kicking myself since last summer when I saw a LW Operator in the case, but instead purchased a bolt gun. I wasn't making the same mistake twice. So I asked to see it, fondled it for a few minutes, then said "I'll take it". Now I know I'm hooked and thinking about what is next on the list... I don't see an end in sight, and I'm ok with that.

I got 16 of them floating around here. According to the Mrs., I have to look behind me to see the end, so it looks like my 1911 buying days are on hold for the moment. Still, it gives me enough to keep me busy for a while.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I know the feeling! I have two 1911's. Every time my wife sees me looking I get a poke in the ribs

Poke back...it works for me, or it used to, anyway. Must be why I'm on hold.

edit: her last couple of pokes felt a lot like "don't even f..... think about it".

After 44 years I think she is impervious to me and my poking

Do you guys have a freezer full of vanilla ice cream as well?

I'm more a variety kinda guy anymore.

I once had a pretty substantial collection of .30 carbines, K98's and Winchester 94's.
After a while, they just got to be boring.
I sold/traded off all but a few of each example and came to the conclusion that I liked my collection to look more like a gun shop with a wide variety than just a pile of certain models.

I only own one 1911 now, haven't even shot it in ages, it's put away fro my girls to do with it what they will after I'm gone.

Other than being on the lookout for a Delta if one pops up at a good price, you guys don't have to worry about me competing for the 1911's on the store shelves.

But please, enjoy your collecting, even if it it sad... all those other guns out there looking for a good home and all...

Oh boy... now I am worried. I haven't got any yet, but that is the next one I want to buy... I hope I stop at one for a while.

I keep a little chocolate, but not as much as I used to.

I think I got 4 all metal pistols that aren't 1911's. Three of them took me a 'coons age to find, so they aren't getting sold, ever.
