Stockertown range
Yesterday, sunny, a little windy at X's.
Great day shooting. Rem 22 41P targetmaster. shot 50 yards. on the money.
moved over to the pistol range. CSS target 45acp. shot 15 yards perfect with my reloads.
Cleaned up after shooting on both ranges my brass & targets.
More members starting to filter in on nice day.
As my friends & I leave the range we all ways stated what a great country we live in. The freedom to shoot. FOR NOW.

Re: Stockertown range
I am a member of the EFGA, and was looking for a range locally that didn't have as many people. I was considering Stockertown till I talked with one of the range officers. I normally shoot my bolt guns, but every now & then I will take a semi-auto. I would be a hassle to hold the trigger in on my double action Mini 14 trigger for 5 seconds, so I don't fire the second shot too early.
I am looking in to different ranges in the area. As for now I just go to my family farm in the peoples republic of jersey, and keep an eye out for the law.

Re: Stockertown range
That 5 second rule is the reason I'm not a member there. Take a look at East Bangor, they have significantly imporved in the last few years.

Re: Stockertown range
Yes 5 second rule. The town is right in the front yard of range. The people that have moved into town have change over the years. They would not like to hear what would sound like auto fire all day every day fire.
I have never had a problem. Has been busy of late. The range that is.
Yesterday shot at EF&G. early 6 on pistol, 2= 22range, 2 on rifle. 08:30 am.NRA Life Member 03/2005

Re: Stockertown range
I'm a member at Hellertown but live in Pen Argyl. By Stockertown I assume its that range on Sullivan Trail.
There's virtually no one at Hellertown most times I've shot at their 25 yd pistol range. There are no rules.

Re: Stockertown range
chiltech500, where is the range in Hellertown, and do they have a website?
The question is, will you be on your feet or your knees?

Re: Stockertown range
Well there are rules; sorry if it was taken literally, what I meant was there are no rules pertaining to rapid fire (it's not the wild west LOL). Paper targets only and etiquette when others are on the range, example: you have to stay behind the furthest shooter , open slide with mag out when others are shooting in front of you , common sense type stuff.
Hellertown Sportsmans does have a website. A member needs to sponsor you but if you attend one of the monthly meetings and talk to the guys running the show they will sponsor you after you attend a mandatory new members orientation. I did both at once, attended the regular meeting and new members orientation the same evening. Yes, it is a bit of work but the range for pistols (and rifles) is not heavily used, when I've been there on weekends. The pistol range has lights and at 25 yards a roofed area with benches. They have a couple portable tables for shooters to use at less than 25 yards. They have a skeet shooting area etc.Last edited by chiltech500; August 12th, 2013 at 01:46 PM.

Re: Stockertown range
Been seeing new shooters at range.
The back stops on the rifle range have to be rebuild almost every weekend.
Yes, we believe they are being shot down or shot up on purpose. Sad to say.
In the last effort to make them last, they have placed sand bags around the post. The target area is so small at the 50 yard U can just post your paper target, Oh, 25 yard too.
Most of the hits, bullets impacts??? in the sand bags. Really, that bad of a shot?NRA Life Member 03/2005
