Default question about first ccw firearm

Looking at a S&W BG 380 for first ccw firearm. I am a vet of oif 05-06 so i have fired quite a few firearms and am looking for advice. I plan to put around 100rds through it to learn the firearms quirks trying to stay around 5-600 dollars on the purchase excluding holster and mags.

Sounds like a plan. If you have a range nearby that rents guns, you could try one before buying.

I bought the Ruger LC380. If I had it to do over again, I would get the Ruger LC9. It is the same gun just a 9MM and about the same price: about $400-$450 depending where you find it, and it is easily concealable.

    Something to think about.

I always tell people to fondle a lot of pistols to find one that fits your hand and points well for you.

A friend of mine has a BG380 and it is very picky about ammo. Of the first 100 rounds through it, we had about 10 failures to fire. Using a different brand of ammo he had none fail. I like the feel for a pocket semi-auto, just sharing my experience.

Out of curiosity, why the S&W? I have tried many of the pocket 9's and 380's and I don't really care for the S&W. Size wise there are a lot of small 9's that pack more of a punch and are nearly identical in size to the smith.

I believe TulAmmo was one that didnt work well, he also said there was another, started with a "p" I believe. It could be just that they were junk rounds, but I've seen complaints about firing pins in the BG on several forums.
