    Default S&W 28-2

MY wife and I stopped by a few gun shops on our way home from the Chambersburg rally. We stumbled upon a minty S&W 28-2 with a 4" Barrel. It just seemed like the thing to do. So we bought it with our State tax refund. I dedicate this purchase to the progressives. How do you like me now?

The serial number dates it to the 1974-77 time frame. Not bad for a gun approaching 40.

That there is one very fine .357 revolver!!!!

The look of the 28 has always been one of my favorites. All business and at the same time refined and classic.

Will it be a shooter? I hope so.

    Best,

    Kobsw

    P.S. Nice PICS.....

Thanks! I have a couple of 27's and they are a thing a beauty. But the down to business looks of the 28's win with me.

And yes, all of my guns are shooters.

Beautiful.....love the classic look. I've always loved the look of 4" barrels on Smith's. I'm eyeing a Dan Wesson to fill the blue/wood spot in my wheel gun collection.

I'm still looking for a 4" 681 or 686 so I can have 4" revolvers in nickle, blue and stainless

You'll be very happy with the 28. Like a Dummy, I sold mine.

It's getting tough to fin N frames with barrels less than 6". I've been meaning to add a Dan Wesson at some point. Never owned one, never heard of any thing bad. I think the complete pistol pack would be the ticket is one could be found. I'm also on the look for a 4" pre lock 686, it's proving to be a tough find. I have a 2.5 and 6" version. The one S&W I sold that I truly regret is a fixed sight 581 I had back in the 80's. Another hard one to find in good shape. Oh well, it's the hunt that makes it fun.

If I looked as good at 40. LOL! You'll find it to be a very good shooter. Mine is.

Congrats, that is a beautiful wheelgun! I've never shot an N frame .357, bet the weight helps keep the recoil down a bit. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure if I've ever even seen a N frame .357 anywhere....
