I also have an 8" Anaconda....

I used to use mine for big bore pin and plate competition at 25, 50 and once 100 yds. Gun was very accurate. It was capable of hitting 8x10 plates at 100yds - if I did my part. Used to routinely clear 25 out of 25 bowling pins at 25 yds.

Mine was one of the very early ones that had a recall for the transfer bar, I think. Took a lot of talking to convince colt to send me the part and let me install it myself so I wouldn't be without the gun for competition. "if you're gonna have my gun for 6-8 weeks, I may just have to go out and buy a S&W 629..."

on gunbroker, you can't touch one for under $800. glad I got mine in a trade years ago!

Damn Rocket. Replace the rep I gave you with Kudos for this thread.
You even taught me something new today...I did not know the 5" ones were rare.

Yep...I couldn't even find a reference to them anywhere on the web. The old Colt Mfg. Anaconda page only lists 4, 6, and 8 inch...but damn if there weren't some 5 incher's made! I know a guy that owns 2 of them. I'm not sure if they were custom shop guns or not, but there are several other owners on coltforum.com with them...

    Here is a photo of 2 5" Anacondas...made in 1996

Thanks for all the great comments, guys! I'm already planning my next review...

Here is something else I left out of my review...

Colt also offered an Realtree Anaconda Hunter package that consisted of a "plastic" Realtree coating applied to the stainless frame and barrel along with a matching Redfield scope and mount. They also came with a Team Realtree soft case...

Nice! I wish I had the original box for mine! Is your top strap tapped and drilled for a scope mount?

here's mine, 4" .45LC. i only got 42 rounds through it so far, my range only carries magtech cowboy loads at a whopping $33 per 50 reloading will definately be in my future, or i was thinking of possibly locating and .45 or .44 cylinder and having it customized to shoot .45acp/.45lc with moonclips and still have the original cylinder.

does this target look like mel gibson holding baby from dirty dancing hostage to anyone else?
Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.
