So what are they going to do chase down the criminals who dont have legal weapons already and make them buy insurance? Our Political system isn't just broke it's insane.

This is a major problem, not only constitutionally but morally.

A few years ago my car was stolen. I found out the corrupted police stole a bunch of cars and shipped them out to Russia. An officer told me not to worry because I had insurance on it. It made it "OK" for him, but I was not OK with that.. especially that answer.

You can see where this is going.

People crashing cars committing insurance fraud to split money between each other.

Intentional or unintentional accidents due to negligence just because "oh well, I have insurance".

I'm not an expert on firearm insurance, but if it's the same as automobile insurance as they claim then expect far, far worse news.

Stolen, missing weapons reported for insurance, negligent misfires, etc.

Owners without insurance tend to be more responsible because anything that happens is "on them".
