Default Preemption Violation - Bucks County

    Hey everyone,

Last Sunday I was up at Peace Valley Park in Bucks County and noticed the Park Rules Sign contained a prohibition of firearms. Well I don't need to explain to the folks here that is a preemption violation.

Anyway, I emailed the Commissioners on Sunday. By Monday morning (keep in mind a holiday), had a response back from the Vice Commissioner Charles Martin that I was right and they would forward it to the Parks Department.

Today, got a reply that the offending portions were taped over and as signs are replaced the wording will be corrected.

Thumbs up to Vice Commissioner Martin for knowing they were in the wrong and being really quick in taking steps to correct it. Glad Bucks is still one of the good counties for gun owner.

Glad to hear it. Someone was keeping track of how various municipalities responded to such concerns, post-Erie decision. Anyone remember who?

Well then, make a note of this one. Let's hope that a few of these will make it unnecessary for anyone to take another case to the Superior Court, where they will happily expand upon their earlier musings.

    Greetings,

Thanks very much for your pursuit of this issue with the County emckee57! We all need to be on the look out for such signage and take similar actions. Good work!

    Regards, Jim

Bucks county board of supervisors changed their rules years ago in county parks. I will find the audio from youtube. The sign probiall still exists because of laziness.
