Selling a rifle to a Maryland resident
I have to undergo another back surgery and am liquidating a few things since I will be out of work for a while.
Someone from Maryland wants to purchase one of my rifles, but wants me to ship it to them and insists that it is legal for me to ship it directly to them and not use an FFL.
I checked the Maryland laws and see that it is an unregulated rifle, but I am still unclear of the legal process.
I called an FFL in Maryland but they seemed bothered by the question.
Seeing that I am in the upper left corner of the state of Pa driving is out of the question.
Does anybody know how this sale should proceed?

Re: Selling a rifle to a Maryland resident
Don't do it. I'm trying to find a reference to the law now.

Here: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/unli...-state-firearm
Has to go through an FFL.

Re: Selling a rifle to a Maryland resident
Do not ship directly to him. The easiest way I can think of is to find an FFL close to the buyer that accepts a rifle from an individual and ship it to that FFL and the buyer does the transfer there.

what is a unregulated rifle?
i can tell you it's illegal to ship any modern firearm directly to someone's house unless the individual has a FFL. if your rifle is a C&R and the buyer has a C&R license then you can legally ship the rifle directly to his home legally. sounds like the guy is a prohibited person trying to get you to do something illegal so you're probably better off selling to someone else.
