It's always cool to find ammo stashed away like that. If a box has no price tag, I generally write on the box the price paid, date purchased, and store where bought. I get a chuckle at seeing the difference in prices years later.

I have a half box of CCI Mini Mags from around 1975 that I keep meaning to shoot. Part of me wants to hang onto them though, as they are the only tangible thing I have from the time when I was shooting my first rifle.
Truth to that - I have a few hundred rounds of Turkish 8mm Mauser that's headstamped 1941 that still shoots fine. In fact, it's loaded hotter than any modern 8mm I've shot. I'm tempted to hang on to a box of this old Remmy .22 just for memory's sake - but now that I've found it again I'll probably just shoot it. I love finding forgotten ammo.

Yep.. I'm using 8mm with a headstamp 1944 and it works flawlessly.

Bought from both Edelman's and Donn's. Last purchases from my records were a Browning BDM from Edelman's and a SW745 from Donn's. Both just before the hi-cap Clinton ban. Did get the two 15 round mags for the Browning by a week! If memory serves, Edelman's had problems with straw buyers from Philly and effectively closed rather than fight the ATF. Dave_n

My dad bought me my first pistol at the former Edelman's on Grape Street in Whitehall, PA.

Worked there for 5 years in the early to mid 70's. I started as a part timer at the 309 location for two years and then went full time. My last 6 months were as assistant manager at the Newtown Square store.

The only problem working there was that I was never able to save any money because when I got my paycheck I'd spend it all on guns. Harris (the father), Leslie (the son) and Harry (the store manager) always gave the employees really good discounts when making purchases.

I remember the store on Germantown Ave in Phila. I believe it was a pawn shop. Moved from there to Horsham. Branched out from there to other stores ( Phila, 309 )
I think the Sport Spot was on Route 611 north of Doylestown if my memory serves me right.

My Dad brought my brother and I to Edelmans in New Hyde Park for our first .22's as young pups. They later moved the store to route 110. Thanks for the memory spark.

I remember Edelman's. I think I bought my first handgun at the 309 store, a Ruger Mark II in the early 80s and I think I got a Remington 30.06 there also. We used to buy lots of shotgun shell reloading supplies there when we used to shoot clays.

I was in the one on the boulevard several time too.

You're really old if you remember the Montgomeryville Mart.
