Default How many rounds do you shoot a month?

People are stepping all over each other to buy ammo so my question is how much do you use in a week or a month to be so desperate? It's been cold forever so I haven't shot a single round in months. I am not too worried.

I maybe go shooting once or twice a year, if I have time. Sometimes it is years between going out.

In a single outing I'd have to guess I shoot 100-400 rounds total out of the guns I bring, which is often a half dozen or more firearms. ...most of the ammo spent is usually .22RF. Then throughout the year I shoot 1 to 50 cartridges unrelated to range time. ...like for hunting, pest control, dispatching a farm animal(illness, injury, or harvest).

At the rate I use ammo, and if I didn't buy any more, I could go another 5-20 years with what I have saved up. ...depending on the gun. Some guns I shoot more than others. Some guns I don't shoot at all but keep ammo for them just in case.

I haven't been shooting since I broke in my revolver. I'm sitting on every damned bullet I can find.

Prior to the most recent shortage, I was running right around 2500rnds a month.
This divided by 9/45/5.56 over a dozen weapons. Now I shoot about 100rnds a week almost exclusively .40 since I can still get easy resupply. I still plink some .45 every month too, pending resupply ability.

For awhile there I wasn't shooting much, but after the current craziness started,The uncontrollable urge to blast anything overcame me. This month, about 1200 rds.,mostly Russkie surplus, because I'm stocked up pretty good. Just wish I'd bought more reloading supplies for the pistols.

I really don't keep track by month. January-0 February-30 March will be a bit more.
Mu yearly total is usually between 2 to 5,000. I see this being a lean year. I may shoot less than 2,000.

I still have a ton of unopened cases from the late 1990s. My dad and I were severe ammo hoarders back then. He doesn't shoot much if at all anymore, so between his hand me downs and my own hoard, we've managed to ride out the last couple ammo shortages without much worry.
Heck, my dad had receipts from when a case of 9mm was $89.95 plus tax!

I run through 200-300 rounds of 9mm per week, so 800-1200/month and about 50-100 .22 per week so about 200-400/month of that. Haven't shot any 5.56 since the weather got cold, but when it warms up I'll likely go through about 400/month of that. Since things move slowly at Wicen that means I'll probably not shoot as much 9mm and .22 during that time.

    Regards,

    BCB
