Unfortunately, I have a shooting buddy like that. He actually was surprised when Obama started talking gun control. Didn't think the anointed one was going to go there since he didn't bother with it his first term. Funny thing is that I'm the union guy who always votes for the GOP and he's a banker voting for the socialist party. I even told him how Clinton let it go his first term to get re-elected and boned firearm owners during his second term (he was a kid then). History always repeats itself if one doesn't pay attention to it.

The most effective thing "we the people" can do is not elect these clowns in the first place. Once they're in office there's very little that you can actually do to remove them. Generally private citizens cannot bring criminal charges, since that's the duty of the state. I'm actually going to do some more research on this topic, but so far everything I've found about Qui Tam actions is related to companies defrauding the federal government.

Logistically it would be very difficult for you as a private citizen to actually investigate someone as well. AFAIK it's essentially impossible for you to secure something like a search warrant, or arrest warrant as a private citizen against another citizen.

I always get a kick out of these threads where people are surprised and angered that a democrat turns out to be pro-gun control..

    Dear Mr. Phillips:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding the Department of Homeland Security’s recent contract to purchase ammunition. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published notices for department-wide ammunition contracts for a maximum of 33 million rounds of ammunition each year over the next five years (165 million total). These will be used for training law enforcement officers in agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Border Patrol Agents, the U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and for use by agents within the U.S. Secret Service. DHS said the size of the purchasing contract allows for economies of scale, meaning DHS receives a discount on the ammunition for buying a larger quantity.

DHS also has 16 Mine Resistant Armor Protected vehicles (MRAPs), which were transferred from the Department of Defense, at no cost, and have been in use since 2008. DHS said that these are heavy-duty vehicles used in cases of national emergency, such as Hurricane Sandy, or to protect federal agents in cases such as counter narcotics operations. Recent media reports have suggested that DHS recently purchased more than 2,700 MRAPs. According to DHS, these reports are incorrect: the U.S. Marine Corps signed a contract to upgrade 2,717 existing MRAPs in 2011and DHS’ fleet of MRAPs is limited to the sixteen received in 2008.

As your United States Senator, I am committed to ensuring our Nation’s security and supporting our enforcement officers. However, our Nation currently faces significant economic challenges and it is extremely important that we invest wisely. Homeland security spending constitutes a significant portion of our federal budget, and must therefore be subject to careful consideration. As your United States Senator, I will work to identify areas in which spending could be reduced without compromising our security. Our Nation faces serious fiscal restraints and I am committed to examining all areas of spending. Please be assured that I will have your concerns in mind as the Senate considers proposed reductions in the federal budget.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of importance to you.

For more information on this or other issues, I encourage you to visit my website, http://casey.senate.gov. I hope you will find this online office a comprehensive resource to stay up-to-date on my work in Washington, request assistance from my office or share with me your thoughts on the issues that matter most to you and to Pennsylvania.

    Sincerely,
    Bob Casey
    United States Senator

    Dear Mr. Phillips:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding the nomination of Caitlin Halligan to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.

On January 3, 2010, President Obama announced the designation of Caitlin Halligan as his nominee to the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. As part of her confirmation process, Ms. Halligan testified before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, of which I am not a member. On February 14, 2013, the Judiciary Committee voted to send the nomination to the full Senate for consideration.

As a United States Senator, I take very seriously my own constitutional role in Ms. Halligan’s confirmation process, and I will be closely reviewing her professional experience and qualifications as the confirmation process continues. Please be assured that I have been gratified to hear from my constituents regarding Ms. Halligan, and that I will have your views in mind as her nomination moves forward.

Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future about this or any other matter of importance to you.

Note: The White House has since withdrawn the Halligan nomination. So Casey's yea vote won't be needed.

I said this when he first ran for the Senate. Casey is, was, and will forever be the President of the Stupid Club.

I didn't vote for this non-thinking piece of sheep then nor since. He will follow whatever his Democratic boss's tell him to do.
