Default Firearm discharge in Lehigh County/Upper/Lower Saucon Township

Anyone know if its legal to shoot on ones property in Lehigh County/Upper/Lower Saucon Township?

If the neighbors complain, is there any legal ramifications? Just curious, because I just moved, and apparently, one of the neighbors are rather stubborn about it, and for apparently no reason, either.

Check your township's zoning ordinance on noise. The ordinances are likely on line.

Is it in a development or are there a few acres between properties? 99% of the time you cannot discharge a firearm is any type of development.

    We're just outside a development.

My advice would be to check with township officials or LEO. Lower Saucon will probably not welcome the idea as you can read in the following article..

If they deny you, now you'll know why.=)

My dog "Ruger" is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to $3.00 a can. That's almost $21.00 in dog money.

    NOT A LAWYER!

I was reading in our local papers, there is a ordnance that you need to be a certain many yards from a neighbor to be allowed. Distance does not negate the safe use of the firearms(backstop, no riffles, etc).

Might want to ask about local ordnances at town hall.

I would also say, try to be a good neighbor. Legally I think I can shoot all day every day but I stick to the quietest guns I can for plinking with the occasional boomers for hunting/pest control. Usually that means .22 rifles with subsonic ammo. To be fair it also spooks the horses less too.

If possible, pick up a suppressor. Find one that will function on several firearms. I'm waiting on my TAC65 to come in so I can shoot pistol on the property.

I live in Upper Saucon and I hear firearms going off in the distance at times, but that's probably from hunters.

I think if you're going to be doing any sort of shooting on a consistent basis in your yard, anything beyond a .22 isn't going to fly, and even that might get you in trouble.

There's a great gun club at the end of Blue Church Rd South in Coopersburg called the Ridge & Valley... for $65 a year (renewals are $25 I think) you can shoot to your heart's content, any firearm, any calibre... well, maybe not any automatic weapons, but you know what I mean.

Yep, we're members (Dad and I). Back yard's just a bit closer.

Oh well. Off to Ridge and Valley!
