It makes absolutely no difference what condition you keep your ARs in. It has a barrel, which can be replaced, and it has parts which can be replaced.
Decades of diligent attention and careful inspection and maintenance are worth a $100 lower parts kit. Which should be inspected and possibly replaced after decades anyway.
So, all that effort was extremely valuable in making sure the guns were ready to go. But it was completely worthless in maintaining the value of the rifles.
