Default new upper for M16 A1

I'm thinking about purchasing a new upper for my registered M16A1. I'd like to do a short heavy barrel flat top...I imagine I should do a M16 bolt too and leave the original one in the original receiver. Might as well add a M4 style collapsible stock too. Does some one do such a beast or do I need to build one? Let's discuss...

    thanks Dave

Yes, i would look into a bravocompany upper, prob 11.5'' range.
they come with a standard a2 front sight, which can be kept or swapped out depending on what you want to do for sights or optics.
also recommend a bravocompany m16 bolt carrier group.
new barrel extension, get a new bolt and group.

now the big issue.....finding one in stock.

as far as stocks go, pick which ever you like along with the proper buffer tube, plate, nut, spring, and buffer.

As far as the upper, it's a seperate part, do whatever you can dream up. But, the lower, It's almost priceless, take care..

You should usually keep a bolt paired with a receiver/barrel extension unless you are checking headspace. Especially a used receiver/barrel extension.

Check out LMT. I have a LMT 10.5" complete upper that has been rocked on full auto with no problem. A short barrel Colt upper would also be good. Whatever you do, I'd stick with a complete upper from a reputable manufacturer that regularly tests, makes, and sells full autos, just because of the value of your lower.

Thumbs up Re: new upper for M16 A1

    This is MY M16A1.

The first picture in all of its natural Black Rifle loveliness.
The Second is it wearing a Bushmaster 11½ inch HBAR Upper. When I ordered the second Upper I requested they include the M16 Bolt Carrier.

Whichever company you decide to build your new Upper, be sure to ask for the M16 Bolt Carrier. That way you won't go wrong.
