Conceal permit
Back in 1998 I tried to commit suicide. I was admitted into a psych ward because of that. I tried this because my wife was leaving me and taking my kids. I am of sound mind and I know I should have never did what I did. I was lucky. My question is, how does this stop me from getting a conceal permit. I am not psycho. I just made a mistake. Can anyone guide me on what to do? Thank you

Admitted. Voluntarily, or involuntarily?

Re: Conceal permit
In beaver county if you try to commit suicide. You are automatically sent there. I was there for a week. But never lost my rights to see or have my kids

Re: Conceal permit
I do not think you are eligible to get a CCP. Because you tried to commit suicide regardless if you were self admitted or not. I do not know if you can see a psychologist to have your mental status cleared. Sorry to hear about the rough past. Some things are quite difficult to get expunged from your records, and in my opinion should be.

Re: Conceal permit
Contact the facility at which you were admitted. Request all records. Locate the proper info regarding exactly what was filed in the hospital and courts. You need to know if you signed yourself in for treatment or were committed even if only temporarily.

Re: Conceal permit
court ordered or mandatory inpatient treatment is considered a '302' and those are now shared with FBI, NICS, PICS, etc and will most likely nullify your approval for CCW/LTCF

+1 to what mojo said. Pull your records. There are strict rules for a 302 and the people involved usually F something up. Did they offer you the chance to sign yourself in? Pretty sure they have to atleast twice.
I feel your pain, I'm fighting for my ltcf because of mistakes I made long ago too.

Re: Conceal permit
"CCP"...??? What's that?? So suicide is mentioned in the UFA?? A psychologist can restore one's gun rights??
Preston..TTBOMK...if you checked yourself in you should be ok. If you were put in with no choice you are prohibided. I'm guessing there's a legal procedure for getting a 302 expunged. I'm also guessing it's easier than dealing with a conviction that's prohibiting.Last edited by reverserboy; March 24th, 2013 at 05:46 AM.
