if those of us who buy and sell guns regularly and pass all the criteria could somehow obtain a sort of PICS pass, to expedite the gun transaction process.

I mean, the airports do it with frequent travelers, right? I would not mind renewing that annually either, just to keep them as up to date as possible.

Probably never happen, but it would be nice.

That would be nice. I'm not sure exactly why, but every time I go to buy a gun the person calling it in needs to wait for an operator. The only reason I can think of is because I'm originally from California.

If that really IS the law, no gun shop I've ever been in has heard of it.

That would makes things easier.

Unfortunately someone could get LEGITIMATELY prohibited during that annual process that wouldn't be known until it was renewed.

However a priority system where established regular users are expedited might be possible.

That would just give them (PSP) another way to register gun owners. I would not want to be on a list just to get my gun 5 minutes sooner.

So to clarify..... The NICS check can be bypassed if one has a license

(d) Exceptions to NICS check. The provisions of paragraph (a) of this section shall not apply if—

(1) The transferee has presented to the licensee a valid permit or license that—

(i) Allows the transferee to possess, acquire, or carry a firearm;

Since PA uses PICS.... this doesn't apply to us. Hopefully one day we can get rid of PICS
