Re: Rip off by Steve Stoltzfus of Bullseye Shooter Source
Well, small miracles still occur.
On Tuesday I got an email from Steve. It had a USPS tracking number and a simple message: "Mailed today."
Today, I received a box containing my 1911 slide and Wilson Combat front and rear sights (still in their packaging).
1.5 years after I dropped the parts off at his shop--giving him a chance...hoping to find a decent local gunsmith to handle basic jobs--and I finally have my parts back.
My guess is that he knows he's going to be found guilty of stealing from the club, and he doesn't want to show up for his sentencing with a bunch of people ready to testify about how he ripped them off, too.
Oh, well.
I'm done with him. In the end, it was just an incredible waste of time.Last edited by OlGunner; October 24th, 2014 at 08:04 PM.

Re: Rip off by Steve Stoltzfus of Bullseye Shooter Source
The very same one, and it was untouched. He sent it back still tied to the order sheet, which in turn had the sight packages stapled to it. It's the way he tied everything together when I dropped it off in June 2013.
Fortunately, it wasn't something I actually needed to have done. It was a spare slide and I really only dropped off to see what kind of work he did--I wanted to give him a chance. So now that I finally have the parts back, all I'm out is time.
What's sad is I spend a fair amount on gun work on a regular basis. If he had handled this job professionally and done a nice job, it likely would have led to a lot more work for him.
As it is, I'm just really surprised he managed to stay in business as long as he did.

How the heck did this guy make any money at all?
Did he just live on customer's deposits?
Unfortunately, I've encountered more than one gunsmith on this end of the state that were less than honest. A couple operated exactly the way this guy supposedly did.
