Monroe County sheriff explains complicated Pennsylvania firearm laws

Even with a License to Carry a Firearm, places that licensees are not permitted to carry a firearm are: schools and school properties, court facilities, state and federal buildings or properties, bars and taverns or any public or private property properly posted conspicuously prohibiting the same.

I'm not even going to list the errors in that thing. There are many. Very sad. They could have emailed me a copy and I'd have fixed it for them, for free.

When was the law passed to make it illegal to carry in bars and taverns?

He also requires that your references reside in Monroe County even though it's not a requirement on the PSP form and you absolutely must provide your Berkheimer statement.

Not to mention that it's ok if his deputies don't know the law and feel like cursing at you even though they are wrong.

Just wanted to add, that while I am not great at writing out letters, if someone would like to and send it to me, I well gladly send it to both the Sheriff and the paper.
