Para Ordinance
I have two Para Ordinance P-14 all steel ,45 auto , double stack frames , complete with internals that I bought probably twenty years ago .
Has anyone done a build with any of these pistols ? There seems to be alot of slide configurations and barrels available now for them , I'd appreciate any info you would have . thanks in advance

Re: Para Ordinance
I have a P14-45 that I had done up as an IPSC Limited gun back in 1994. The work was done by George Smith at Evoloution Gun Works, back when they were still doing gunsmith work. (www.egwguns.com).
I was intent on putting in a match barrel, however George recommended keeping the original Para barrel. I am not sure if the one in my gun happened to be exceptionally good or that the Para barrels of that vintage were generally of good quality, but I kept mine. It has been much more accurate than I ever will be.
The OEM internals on the gun of your vintage are pretty much throw away parts. During that time Para was really hitting the competition circuit hard and the guns were designed primary for the frame, barrel, and slide with the rest of the parts made as cheaply as possible because they were most likely going to be discarded anyway. I think I put one box of hardball through mine before it went off to EGW for the work. Out of the box it was just plain awful. What I got back was a thing of beauty that runs like a well oiled sewing machine.
For the build, here is my list:
Checkered front strap insert
Welded on magwell
Fit stainless beavertail
EGW hammer, hard sear, disconnector, trigger and spring (2.5# trigger)
Stainless arched/checkered mainspring housing
New mainspring + follower
Stainless ambi safety
Stainless slide release
Custom fit barrel lugs to slide
Polish and shape feed ramp
Match grade bushing fitted to barrel
2 piece FLGR
Bomar sights
Cocking slots cut in front of slide
Tighten and hand fit slide/frame
18# Wolf recoil spring
To date I have put well over 20K rounds through this gun and it still feels as tight as the day I first took delivery. It will shoot pretty much anything I load into it without issues although it has seen about 95% lead (185gr SWC).

Re: Para Ordinance
I've not done a build with one, but these folks have done a few: http://www.cylinder-slide.com/.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.
