Coatesville Gun Buyback (March 16, 2013)
http://www.dailylocal.com/article/20...-back-program-
I just heard about this today. It looks like it's being funded via a combination of orginization donations as well as a donation from the city council (sounds like taxpayer dollars).

On Monday the Chester County Republican Party donated $1,000 to the Coatesville Youth Initiative for the program.

Re: Coatesville Gun Buyback (March 16, 2013)
Why do they call these gun buybacks? They didn't originally sell them. It's a "used gun buy". It's an exercise in stupidity that makes the organizers feel better.
Politicians who fear the people seek to disarm them.
People who fear their government's intentions refuse to be disarmed.

So who wants to show up and run counter offers?
Too bad I have an oral interview for a Police Officer position in York that afternoon.

I fired off an email to the chairman: val @republicanccc.com
http://www.dailylocal.com/article/20...-back-program-
Are you all for real?
Guns are not the goddamned problem. The break down of the family structure in many urban areas is the problem. All you're going to do is "buyback" grandpa's old shotgun or dad's old hunting rifle. You're not going to entice a single criminal to turn in their gun.
You make me sick... You don't represent me as a Chester County Republican. So you know what... It's time to change my affiliation to Libertarian!!
What a fucking joke!
Sincerely,

Re: Coatesville Gun Buyback (March 16, 2013)
I'll try to be there early. This has me really angry. The Chester County Republican Committee has never been known for the choosing of rocket scientists for their leadership positions and this proves it again. I want to know who authorized this Val DiGiorgio to speak for Chester County Republicans and do something so incredibly stupid. I demanded his resignation in an email I sent to him. Who advised this moron that this was a good idea? I'm going to get to the bottom of this and demand some answers!@!!@@!!!
Damn, it seems just when you have things starting to turn with the wind in your sail you have some hapless rookie let a jib stay go and let it flap in your face. Not a disaster but enough to slow down the momentum. Sheesh, this was nothing but a stupid rookie failure to think. I'm not one to just abandon the ship like some when some water comes splashin' over the gunwales but this rookie needs some lashes for a lesson. Val DiGiorgio, who is this guy?

Hmm, the more I think about it the more I might just try and swing by for an hour or so.
