LSHD Fundamental Pistol (Two Day)

Fundamental Pistol is an entry level course of instruction designed specifically for those who have had limited formal training. Topics covered include: safety, cleaning, inspection, and maintenance; aiming, trigger control, stance, grip, draw, reloads, malfunction clearance, and introduction to skill drills. Day One is focused on safety and gun handling while Day Two delves into the fundamentals of marksmanship. The normal maximum class size for this course is eight shooters.

Prerequisites:

NRA Basic Pistol is a mandatory prerequisite to LSHD Fundamental Pistol.

Class requirements:

eye protection & electronic ear protection (SureFire Sonic Defender or similar style earpro is fine)
semi-auto pistol of at least 9x19mm caliber
holster worn on the strong side that allows holstering with only the firing hand
must have a magazine carrier worn on the belt
must have several spare magazines
550 rounds semi-auto pistol ammo – preferably factory (no reloads)
suitable range wear depending on the season

In light of the current ammunition situation (and the resultant uncertainty in ammunition supply and cost in the coming months) LSHD has decided to authorize the use of .22lr pistols. The guns must be of a type which function like their full-power counterparts. Any testing or standards during class will be run on full-power guns, but .22s will allow marksmanship and gun handling at a fraction of the normal ammunition cost. Please ensure that you find a .22 load that cycles your particular gun reliably.
