Default What's more important to you, Carry Rights or Semi-auto Rifle Rights?

Don't blast me for asking! I would like to see both rights defended and see them both as protected by the 2A.

However, I do value one over the other. I would never easily give up either right though. Some states don't honor one or the other, some don't honor either. Our state, fortunately, honors both.

Just wondering what people think. I tend to feel that semi-auto rifles ("assault weapons" ) are more important in the long run, as a deterrent to tyranny and a check against government power encroaching on the civil power. I carry whenever I can but I think situational awareness, your wits, and other safety measures can go a long way towards achieving the same ends as carrying whereas they cannot go anywhere towards deterring a tyrant.

The potential tyrant (let's just call this hypothetical tyrant "Barak Oboma", no relation to Mr. Barack Obama) will only be deterred by an armed populace. We know that we can put all the checks and balances in place and said tyrant will ignore them, use his sheeple to circumvent them, use his court appointments to demolish them... In the end a black scary rifle may be the only thing between the will of the tyrant and the will of the people.

I guess it comes down to, what do you feel is more likely to occur or what do you fear more? I think a dissolution of our government into an unchecked tyranny is becoming a more likely reality than me running into an armed burglar. And with the latter happening hundreds of times a day, you can tell how certain I am that our days as a democratic, constitutional society are numbered.

Edit: This isn't even a hypothetical, as in "which would you rather give up in a compromise". I'm merely asking which one you find more important. Both things can be extremely, extremely important to you, I am just curious if one is slightly moreso than the other.

I purposely didn't put that as a poll option because we all would just check that one, lol

I won't insist in your case but I'm sure some of us have a tendency towards one over the other. Doesn't mean we'd give up either. I enjoy chocolate and vanilla. Prefer chocolate, but wouldn't let someone abolish vanilla.

I like blondes, brunettes, and redheads. I prefer brunettes but wouldn't want the blondes and redheads dying their hair brown!

So look at it that way :P

This is literally an impossible question to answer because both are right and neither can exist without the other.

Pretty much the case on it. The last thing I would want is for some of those socialists decide to try something like that question with a law they try to propose.
I offer discounts on freeze dried foods, knives and other prepping products.

False dichotomy. No response given to the poll.

No answer. You might as well ask me which of my kids I'd give up.
