Remington Model 12A .22 Pump
One of the firearms I acquired when my grandfather passed away was a Remington Model 12A .22 rifle. The Buttstock was cracked completely through and it wouldn't cycle correctly. The bluing is completely gone and there may be a few other pieces that I will need to replace or purchase but I am determined to fix her up into a nice shooter.
Surprisingly the bore looks clean and the lands and grooves of the rifling are in good shape. As a start I have ordered a new buttstock and forend with the replacement screws for each. I also purchased a schematic. Unfortunately, my grandfather did not baby his rifles. They were well used and it definitely shows, but I am absolutely sure I can restore this back its original beauty. Granted, I am going to spend probably twice what the rifle is worth, but its a sentimental thing.
So, lets see your Remington Model 12 if you have one. Would also like to hear how you like it if you have or have had one.
Will post pics as that parts come in and I get working on it.
Edit: Here is a nice article on the rifle if you are unfamiliar with it

Re: Remington Model 12A .22 Pump
Green,
I have one of those rifles but it has an octagon barrel. The rifling is all shot out from overuse and it doesn't feed ammo anymore, but can still be used as a single shot of which I do. I use it mostly as a garage gun sitting in the corner until needed to shoot a damn cat or groundhog.
I do wish I could get the feed fixed, but i believe it wouldn't be worth the cash.

Yea, for as old as these rifles are it doesnt surprise me to see a bunch of them in rough shape. From what I have read, they were nice little rifles.
I ordered the replacement walnut stop for them today, complete with my grandfathers initials laser engraved on the buttstock. Once those come in I can start putting it back together.
Im excited to finish it. I really want to take it out to the range.Certified Glock Armorer

Re: Remington Model 12A .22 Pump
I seem to have hit my first snag. I need to replace the carrier and I can't seem to find anyone that has it in stock. I've tried Numrich, Popperts, Wisners and Jack First, Inc.
Does anyone know of other websites or stores that sell parts for older firearms?!?!
Thanks,Certified Glock Armorer

Well it only took me a few months to get around to finishing this thing, but its all finished except for the bluing. I want to put a few rounds through it and make sure its fully functional before I spend the money to have it blued. I got the replacement stock set from Boyd's Gun Stocks. They were great to work with. Photo attached.
