    Default Ruger 10/22 spring help

Hey all, I have a Ruger 10/22 project coming along. I installed a new Green Mountain bull barrel, a Hogue overmold stock, upgraded magazine release and a new scope. I took it to the range ready to sight it in and I notice the slide was jammed and I could not load a bullet into the chamber. After fiddling around with it it became completely semi locked back.

I took it home and took it apart and my diagnosis is that this part is not working correctly.

The spring mechanism is not smooth whatsoever, its incredibly hard to tense and release. I tried spraying it down with lubricant but it is very hard to budge. Should I buy a new one or is there a way to fix this? What is this part called?

That is Ruger part number B-48A Cocking Handle, Guide Rod & Recoil Spring Assembly.

Did you have it in properly? Sometimes mine will go together with it a little crooked and it will bind.

Also if you're trying to move the handle while it's out of the gun, it will always bind because the handle is crooked on the guide rod when you pull it like that.
